Your Words can live online for a l-o-n-g- time. When you publish something on your blog, anyone with Internet access can see it. If you enable comments on your blog, people all over the world can also respond to what you publish, and you might not like what they have to say. Those are just two of the drawbacks of blogging.
Blogging can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it gives you the opportunity to share you opinions with others and find like-minded bloggers to network with. As your online presence grows and people within and outside of the blogosphere get to know who your are, it's quite possible that new career, volunteer, or interview requests might come your way.

WordPress: The biggest rival to Blogger is WordPress. The drawbacks of WordPress are twofold:
* The free version is far more limited than the version that requires users to pay for their own domain names and web hosting.
* The free version doesn't allow users to monetize their blogs.
TypePad: TypePad is easy to use, but it is not free. Users pay a monthly fee to use TypePad. It offers a decent level of customization and design, but it comes at a cost.

The main features that separate a blog from other types of Web sites are its time-stamped entries, archived entries, and comments. Most blogs incorporate these same basic features and more. Depending on your likes, dislikes, or needs, you can add, delete, or modify features to display on your blog.
